I’m 22.
It’s an odd age because I have just finished college and entered the real world and even though I have a degree, I still had and have a long journey of figuring out what I want to do, but even more important how I’m going to do it.
Since I’ve been on my 22-year-old crisis of having no clue where to start in life, I’ve realized that I’m no where near alone. There’s plenty of people who constantly scream, “WHAT IN THE WORLD AM I EVEN DOING,” just like I have. With that being said, I have came up with my own strategy of figuring out a way to accept that life is unknown, always changing directions and throwing curve balls at us.
So, this is for my fellow human beings that feel like they can’t get a grasp on life, maybe you feel torn with what you’re doing with your life, or maybe you simply aren’t happy but don’t really know why. I want to share with you a few methods that I have picked up on that help me.
The first step is acceptance.
You have to accept that you want to change your life in order to be happy and live how you want. You have to accept that you’re going through this crisis of not knowing what’s going on, but you also have to accept that it’s not going to last forever because you’re about to PUT IN DAT WORK to become genuinely happy, fulfilled and successful… in nobody else’s terms but your own.
This isn’t easy though. Remember to be patient with yourself because it’s not going to happen over night.
One of the next things I would suggest is to make a FULFILLING and a DISSATISFYING list. These lists will contain everything that comes to your mind, it doesn’t have to be related to work, it can be hobbies, interests… things that make you rage with anger – literally anything. Write them all down.
Do this now. Don’t continue reading. Do it now and then when you’re finished come back to read more.
WRITE THE LIST.
Seriously though, if you are really frustrated with life right now stop playin games with me and go write yo list if you seriously want to see changes.
Ok, so now I’ll give you a little example of what to do.
Fulfillment: Dissatisfying:
Healthy Skin Negative People
Friends/Family Animal Abuse
Laughter Stinky Breath
Okay, so that’s a sample list.
I like to think of this as Self Care 101. Oooo, I’m changing the name of this blog right now. THAT NAME IS SPICY!! Ok, anyway… this is the first step I did that gave me a better understanding of how much simply putting aside 5 dedicated minutes to this one thing a day, can make a huge difference.
So, if I picked friends/family today – I would set aside time that day to check up on my friends and family. Now this could be in multiple different forms. You could send them a gift. You could send them a card, write a letter, simply shoot a text or even just call them. There are days where I’ll just text someone that I think about but might not talk to often and just remind them that I’m here and I still care. Sometimes there are days where I will shoot multiple people a nice text or motivational quote. There are some days where I pick one individual and just give them a call. It all depends on how I’m feeling. Don’t put pressure on yourself and don’t overthink it. The entire point of this is because it’s something so simple to do, but can be so fulfilling. If you have the desire to spend the 5 minutes on the phone, do that… if you would rather spend the 5 minutes to hand write them a letter, then do that.
For the dissatisfying side, let’s say I pick stinky breath. This would mean that I don’t want stinky breath and I need to be prepared even when I least expect it. Don’t even act like yo breath don’t be stankin, that’s a lie. If you go all day eating and drinking junk your breath is not going to smell like roses HONEY!! So, what I have done for this one is bought minty gum, flossers, minty strips for the tongue and mouth wash. Yeah, these are things that you should always have, but now I have multiple so that I am always prepared. I have bought stuff in travel size so I can carry them with me or keep them on-the-go in the car.

Basically, if you don’t like something there’s always a way to fix it or prepare for it if you’re not going to accept it. It could be something as little as stinky breath or something bigger.
Doing this list has also helped me realize what’s really important to me, and what’s not. I have learned I’d rather spend money on certain things over the other. I am making more investments in myself verses just seamlessly spending unnecessary money. I am being more thoughtful about myself with my wants and needs, but I am also being more thoughtful about what the other people in my life might like, appreciate and want.
This list is minimal work, max. 5 mins a day – but I promise if you stick to it, it’s a great way to slowly find yourself, feel better and prioritize your life. Pick one thing a day from each list to work on, then gradually move up if you want. I started off with just one thing a day from one list, but now I do multiple a day from each list. It’s doable.
It helps you realize what you have to do in order to improve your life.
I hope this helps you guys out. It’s just step one to a great journey of life. It’s small but mighty. If you need help, examples or just want to talk about it or have questions please don’t hesitate to reach out because we are doing this together. I feel it’s important to share my strategies with those who are feeling the same way so that we can grow together.
Thanks for reading ❤
