I’ve just been sitting here with my laptop for like 5 minutes now. Haha. I am a firm believer that “writers block” isn’t a thing, but I always begin to question myself as soon as this happens. I’m over here like, “yep, it’s a thing people!!” I’m like the leader of writers-block social group right now because I have it so bad.
I initially wanted to write about my opinions on the earth. Global warming and all of that. But then I was like, “ugh, that blog could be SO MUCH BETTER if I had pictures to go with it,” and I don’t… so I’m like, well do I want to write about that right now when I know I could do the blog more justice? Yes. I think I do.
I’ve noticed that since I’ve moved to California I get a lot of comments of, “omg you’re so California now,” when I literally just recycle a cup. When people say that to me I start to laugh. I for real laugh. I go HAHAHAHAHA. Because????? WHAT??? Whether I live in California or freaking Alaska I’m going to recycle my cup!!!
I usually laugh it off because it’s just one of those conversations when you’re just like… seriously have you not used your brain to think about this situation? I’m sorry you think it’s cool to leave your trash on the beach so seals, dolphins, whales and all of the other living creatures can choke on them and die. (Sorry to get graphic there but man it had to happen).
HAVE YOU GUYS NOT SEEN HAPPY FEET?! That movie is real. Lovelace didn’t have a plastic soda wrapper thingy around his neck for style, people.
I won’t say I’m overly dramatic about the environment, but yes – the move to California has made me view our planet and how we treat it very differently. It has also opened my eyes a lot to our health and what we are putting in our bodies but that’s a compleeetttelllly different convo. There’s a lot of awareness out here that I haven’t experienced anywhere else. It’s also because when you’re living out here, you’re physically seeing the changes in the earth.
There’s a beach I enjoy going to – aka ya girl is there all the time – and there are always rocks along the shore that are HUGE. So, I like to set up my hangout area within these rocks and the water will slightly brush up on your feet and legs, ahhhh it’s just perfect.
Since I’m basically the owner of this beach now (haha), I have watched the shore transform so much. HUGE rocks that were there when I first got here aren’t even in sight anymore. You can tell which beaches are well taken care of and which ones are just trash pits. There are spots in the mountains that are extremely clean, but then there are other spots that are still SO BEAUTIFUL, but there’s an abundance of trash for no reason. Oooo that freaking ticks me off. There’s no reason to litter on the top of our mountains. Geez.
No, I don’t hate you if you don’t recycle. But if you throw something in the ocean then I’m going to be like?????? Nope. Go swim your happy trash throwin’ self into that ocean and save a seal right now!!
It just changes your perspective on things a bit. Especially when the most beautiful parts of the world are slowly starting to die or suffer due to lack of consideration or education. I think it’s important to care about the earth, especially when it’s the supplier of literally everything we’ve ever had. We should appreciate Earth more.
I miss my rock.
